Minor surgery service

The minor surgery service is run weekly at the surgery and is available only for patients registered with the Practice.

We are happy to remove skin lesions that are troublesome or suspicious following an assessment and recommendation by the GP.

Procedures are undertaken by one of our GPs, often involve local anaesthetic and take between 5 and 30 minutes to complete. Sometimes you might require stitches to assist the wound to heal.

It is sometimes advisable to take some time away from work to assist your recovery, especially if you have a particularly active job.

Some of the things we encounter include:

  • Moles
  • Skin growths
  • Cysts
  • Skin tags
  • Warts

If you feel that you might benefit from this service, please see your GP.

Wound aftercare

  • Wounds should be kept clean and dry.
  • Stitches should be removed after 1 week unless otherwise specified.
  • Simple dressings without stitches are usually removed after 24 hours unless otherwise specified.
  • If you experience any problems with your wound, please see any of the nursing team.
